January snowstorm

I know the east is socked in with snow this weekend. And we are supposed to get another dumping on Monday. It's all around us...

I decided I had better get my latest snow storm pictures up before I take more.

Before the snow came last week, we got ice. It made great swords.

My girls never played with dolls. They loved beanie babies and webkins. Naturally they would make a snow-corgi instead of a snowman.

This phenomenon is similar to diurnal ice. Amazing!

Oh, one last thing ~ Chloe is the Daily Corgi's Saturday Smiler

Zoe has been pouting all day.

Autographs later...

Chloe and Zoe have made the Daily Corgi again. They are beginning to make unreasonable requests. They want feather pillows in their crates, just blue M&Ms in their playpen food dish, and new collars with a little bling on them. What's next? Tiaras?

Dreams of Summer

Kathy over at Four Dog Day has been experiencing a lot of winter too. Her post this morning got me thinking about our summer plans and summer in general. As a teacher, I am blessed with oodles of time off in the summer. I love that.

Last year we took the big road trip. It cost a lot and took a lot of time. This year we won't take a big trip.

We have talked about camping. There are so many wonderful places to camp in Oklahoma. If any of you Okie bloggers have recommendations for places to camp, let me hear them.

Mostly, we don't plan to go much further than our own back yard.

Right now this...

Seems such a long way from this.

The Aftermath...

The ice storm is over, but the snow continues.

We have a few inches and it is lovely and peaceful.

Older daughter was supposed to audition Saturday for a summer arts camp, but it was canceled. It will get rescheduled. Another snow day.

Cabin fever will set in soon.

Bracing...

It's looking ugly for parts of Oklahoma. We are fine here, so far. But we are ready.

No school today means more corgi snuggling.

Patiently waiting for her snuggle time.

The man of house found one. He hunted it down, stalked it, waited patiently for just the right time to strike and then BAM! out came the debit card and it was his.

Prepping

Over the weekend I asked the man of the house if perhaps we should buy a generator. See, last week we lost power for seven hours and realized we have no water when we have no power. We have talked about a generator before and know we need one. I asked last weekend because the weather guys started talking about a serious storm. Man of the house shot down my awesome idea that we needed to get a generator that very day.

Today he texts me... "Do we need to get a generator? Like today? Like right now?" Sheesh! Ya think?? The forecast is not good. There is a good chance we will lose power. There isn't a generator to be found.

The chicks and I moved the wood pile closer to the house. I'm cooking up some stuff in case we cannot cook. I got the camping lamp down and will dig out the camping stove. We have bottled water and will fill the bath tubs.

If the power goes out we will be OK. But a generator sure would be nice to have. Maybe next storm!

The Sweet Smell of...

Paperwhites?  Really?  I found the smell putrid. The flower, and I am sooooo glad I only got one bulb, was pretty. It was very easy to force. I had never forced a bulb before. But the smell forced me to put it outside on the front porch. Next time ~ tulips.
